JEE Main 2017Area Under Curves Question with Solution

JEE Main 2017 (08 Apr Online)

Question

The area (in sq. units) of the smaller portion enclosed between the curves, x2+y2=4 and y2=3x, is:

Choose an option

Show full solutionCorrect option: A
Correct answer
A13+4π3

Step-by-step explanation

To find point of intersection, eliminate y from both the equation, we get

x2+3x-4=0

 x+4 x-1=0

x=-4, x=1

Area =013·x·dx+124-x2·dx×2

=3x323201+x24-x2+2sin-1x212×2

=323+2·π2-32+π3×2

=23-32+2π3×2

=123+2π3×2=13+4π3 sq. units
