JEE Main 2019 — Circle Question with Solution
From: JEE Main 2019 (Online) 10th April Morning Slot
Question
If the circles x2
+ y2
+ 5Kx + 2y + K = 0 and 2(x2
+ y2) + 2Kx + 3y –1 = 0, (KR), intersect at the points
P and Q, then the line 4x + 5y – K = 0 passes through P and Q, for :
Choose an option
Show full solutionCorrect option: B
Correct answer
Bno value of K
Step-by-step explanation
S1 x2 + y2 + 5Kx + 2y + K = 0
Equation of common chord is
S1 – S2 = 0
....(1)
4x + 5y – K = 0 …(2) (given)
On comparing (1) and (2)
and
22K = –10
So No value of K exists.
