JEE Main 2014 (09 Apr Online)

Question

Given three points P,Q,R with P5,3 and R lies on the x-axis. If the equation of RQ is x-2y=2 and PQ is parallel to the x-axis, then the centroid of ΔPQR lies on the line

Correct answer
C2x-5y=0

Step-by-step explanation

Given, P5,3 and equation of RQ is x-2y=2

⇒  R2, 0 lies

on x-axis and Q lies on a line parallel to x-axis through P which is y=3. Hence, on solving y=3 and x-2y=2x=8

∴   Q8,3

Centroid

5+8+23,3+3+035, 2

 x1+x2+x33,y1+y2+y33

5, 2 lies on 2x-5y=0
