JEE Main 2014Trigonometric Ratios & Identities Question with Solution

JEE Main 2014 (09 Apr Online)

Question

If cosec θ=p+q  p-q  pq, p0, then cotπ4+θ2 is equals to:

Choose an option

Show full solutionCorrect option: C
Correct answer
C q p

Step-by-step explanation

  cosec  θ = p + q p - q 1 sin  θ = p + q p - q

let  tan θ 2 = t    then    1 + t 2 2t = p + q p - q  sin2θ=2tanθ1+tan2θ

Using componendo and dividendo rule, we get

1 + t 2 + 2t 1 + t 2 - 2t = p + q + p - q p + q - p + q

1 + t 1 - t 2 = p q

⇒  |1-t1+t|  =qp=|cot(π4+θ)| tanπ4+θ=1+tanθ1-tanθ
