JEE Main 2023Dual Nature of Matter Question with Solution

JEE Main 2023 (08 Apr Shift 1)

Question

Proton (P) and electron (e) will have same de-Broglie wavelength when the ratio of their momentum is (assume, mp=1849 me)

Choose an option

Show full solutionCorrect option: A
Correct answer
A1 : 1

Step-by-step explanation

The De Broglie wavelength is λ=hmv

The momentum is given by p=mv

The momentum of proton is pp=mpvp

The momentum of electron is  p'=meve

Since h is the Planck's constant and it is given that both wavelengths are same, i.e.

λp=λe, so pp=p'.
