JEE Main 2023Gravitation Question with Solution

JEE Main 2023 (12 Apr Shift 1)

Question

Two satellites A and B move round the earth in the same orbit. The mass of A is twice the mass of B. The quantity which is same for the two satellites will be

Correct answer
ASpeed

Step-by-step explanation

The formula to calculate the speed of a satellite while revolving around the Earth is given by

v=GMeR   ...1

where, v is the speed, G is the Gravitational constant, Me is the mass of the Earth, R is the radius of the orbit.

As can be seen from the equation, speed is independent of mass of satellite.

Hence, the speed of the satellites will be the same.
