JEE Main 2020Semiconductors Question with Solution

JEE Main 2020 (05 Sep Shift 2)

Question

Two Zener diodes (A and B) having breakdown voltages of 6 V and  4 V respectively, are connected as shown in the circuit below. The output voltage V0 variation with input voltage linearly increasing with time, is given by (Vinput = 0V at t = 0)

Choose an option

Show full solutionCorrect option: C
Correct answer
C

Step-by-step explanation

At time t=0, voltage across the first zener diode is increases linearly till it reaches it's breakdown voltage of 4 V, after that voltage increases linearly till it reaches the breakdown voltage of second zener diode,

As soon as voltage across the zener diode reaches the breakdown voltage of 6 V of second zener diode, volatge becomes constant and doesn't change with time.
