JEE Main 2022Chemical Kinetics Question with Solution

JEE Main 2022 (25 Jun Shift 1)

Question

For a given chemical reaction γ1A+γ2Bγ3C+γ4D. Concentration of C changes from 10 mmol dm-3 to 20 mmol dm-3 in 10 s. Rate of appearance of D is 1.5 times the rate of disappearance of B which is twice the rate of disappearance A. The rate of appearance of D has been experimentally determined to be 9 mmol dm-3s-1. Therefore the rate of reaction is____mmol dm-3s-1. (Nearest Integer)

Step-by-step explanation

dcdt=20-1010=1milimole/dm3sec

γ1A+γ2Bγ3C+γ4D

dDdt=1.5-ddtB=9 milimole/dm3 sec

-ddtB=2-ddtA

Rate =-1γ1dAdt=-1γ2dBdt=1γ3dCdt=1γ4dDdt

(i) dDdt=γ4γ2-dBdt=1.5-ddtB

γ4γ2=1.5

(ii) γ2γ1-dAdt=-ddtB=2-ddtA

γ2γ1=2

(iii) dCdt=γ3γ4dDdt

1=γ3γ4×9

γ4γ3=9

So, if

 γ3 = 1 than γ4 = 9γ2 = 6 and γ1 = 3Rate of reaction = 1γ3d[C]dt = 1 m mol dm-3 s-1
