JEE Main 2022Experimental Physics Question with Solution

JEE Main 2022 (26 Jun Shift 2)

Question

A travelling microscope is used to determine the refractive index of a glass slab. If 40 divisions are there in 1 cm on main scale and 50 Vernier scale divisions are equal to 49 main scale divisions, then least count of the travelling microscope is _____ ×10-6 m.

Enter your answer

Show full solutionCorrect answer: 5
Correct answer
5

Step-by-step explanation

Given here, main scale reading, MS=140 cm

And, 50×VS=49×MS

Least count of travelling microscope is LC=MS-VS

=MS-4950 MS

=150×MS

=150×140 cm=12000×10-2 m

=5×10-6 m
